My piece is based on a real life memory of when I was in my late teens/early twenties living at home with my parents still. We lived on a hill in the Mount Lofty Ranges, in South Australia, surrounded by trees and paddocks. Our property was about half an acre, but the open air didn't mean much to me when I was so far from everything else.
So I found myself sitting beneath one of the glorious Almond Blossom trees at the top of the property, this particular tree stood alone and I would often sit underneath it with my shadowy friends. At that time Kahn - a Great Dane and Paddington a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. And we would just sit there and enjoy each others company. Paddy and I had a very special connection, I think that is why I have chosen to call this piece "Where Angels Come to Pass".
[In reality the tree is much smaller then this, more rounded.]
I wrote an accompanying poem...
Alone, as if by force of nature we stand before the evergreen beauty awaiting it's virginal Spring...
Pale, snowflake petals dust the dewy earth you follow in my shadow my four legged friend
As we await the rising of another dawn and the setting of another sun
your living in this world had never really begun

[NB. I did work from these stocks but you can't really see them any more, I guess the point of manipulations.]
"Dead Tree" this tree I spent ages on and I have kept the transparent image just incase I need to use another big tree some time, which I do plan to. "Garden 9 Medieval" "Tapestry_1" A few of the angels "Stock_0004" Geraldton Wax flowers I think they are - the basis for some of my blossoms. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
News [link] Info [link] & Entries [link] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- POST EDIT: Grrrr at these annoying phamtom "maintenance" things right when I finish writing eveything ready to submit and I lose it ALL. That's what makes me want to go find some other web art community.
Wonderful work indeed Exellent use of patterns, swils and flowers, and i just love how you've done the angels blending in nicely and softly with the tree. Lovely story about the place too, great work

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
